WHERE ARE THE GODS.

Wrapped in the cocoon of self consciousness,we have grappled with the complexities and intrigues of our primeval essence. As a species,we have tried to profer solutions to the mind bugging, ageless question of our identity, origin, purpose and destination . As a consequence of the confusion we have found our selves, various schools of human consciousness have proferred answers that have left us more bewildered than ever.We find ourselves surrounded by a cacophony of opinions without the prospect of convergence.

Devoid of adequate understanding and exhibiting exhuberance in ignorance,we attributed every phenomenon that defied our logic and cognition to some force or metaphysical element and brewed a concoction of deities. Some say these deities are primodal beings while others believe that they are the essence of our forebears watching over us.When we have questions,we run to them. When we have problems,we ask them to solve them.We make elaborate sacrifices and pour libations, each cult featuring a distinct style.

To the intellectual mind,I have this question. Will man's existence be defined by a bouquette of deities and elemental forces? How can we then presume the validity of our carnal theology, considering that mankind is still unable to fill the void in his soul.Neither the concepts of monotheism or polytheism is solving man's crisis in his desire for a connection with the supernatural.

That there is a suprenatural is an established fact.Man's science alludes to that fact.Where we need insight now is:What or Who is behind the supernatural? We have choosen lofty pursuits in our bid to answer this question. We have fought wars, built contraptions and in fact defined various civilizations on various answers to this question. History is a catalogue of man's abyssmal failure in his attempt to find the primodal force and understand the primeval order of the universe. In all the lofty pursuits that have made up the disciplines, civilizations and cultures of man, there is yet to be found a convergent, exhustive and conclusive view that answers once and for all,the question of the mystry of the supernatural.Where then are the answers we seek?Have we beel looking in the wrong places?

The simple things of life reveal in startling clearity an intelligent influence from an eternal agency. The atheist recognises this fact.

Where then are our gods and why have they failed us? In the three domains of our human consciousnes- memory, contemplation and imagination, we find that the gods live in our brains! They only were a figment of our imaginations, our "quick-fixes" to our dilema, each one leading us down the downward spiralling path of self anihilation. Our being oblivious of the essence of our existence has left us more perplexed about our existence than we ever were.We are driven by frustration to find alternative fixes for our depravity. We find the truth about God quaint. It is too simple,we need lofty answers saturated with jargons. How foolish have we become!Where are our gods now?Where is the science, philosophy, logic and all the other mental inventions we so highly exhalt?

This is my conclusion:As much as you try, concoct more theories and philosophies, your gods never existed, they were in your head! There were no gods, there are no gods and there will never be gods. There is only one God -Jehovah,the author of the universe,And he is not in the complex philosophies, theories and equations (products of your imagination, your gods which you worship!).He is in the simple things of life.Look around you.

The Grace of Our Lord Jesus, the love of God and communion with the Spirit

On the Grace of our Lord, the Father's love and the communion of the Spirit in the life of the Believer. 2Cor 13:14 is a portion of Scripture quoted so often in church that the mention of it brings closing of service or benediction to mind. In this portion of Scripture which indeed is a prayer, is hidden an eternally powerful truth. It is my confidence that the Spirit of God by the will of God will shed light on our spirits as we seek the light of this truth, embrace it and apply it daily in our walk with God. It says "the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all". What a prayer! First it is seen in this prayer, THE WORD, THE FATHER and THE SPIRIT. Once upon a time, in the beginning of time, there was a convocation and in that meeting, Elohim, was there with The Logos and His Pneuma, and the result was creation. What if there is a creative mystery embedded in this prayer in the life of a believer? What ...

On Fear, Doubt and Unbelief

Faith is central in the Christian life. The bible says in Heb 11:6 that it is impossible to please God without faith. Pleasing Him is being accepted of Him. This means that though the sinner has been vindicated by the blood of Jesus, his believing in that sacrifice and its efficacy in his favor, makes him acceptable to God. His faith pleases God. The righteousness of God imputed to man in Christ by faith is how we please God. Scripture also says that this man who has so pleased God should live by the same means by which he pleased God (Hab 2:4; Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38). Col 2:6 says that we must continue our walk in Christ AS as we received Him (in the first place). You have pleased God. Your faith in the sacrifice of the Lamb and in the work of redemption  and all it represents for you, has made you "...accepted in the beloved" (Eph 1:6). You maintain this state of favor with God by living in the consciousness of it. This is living BY FAITH.   In our faith life how...

Thankful Thinking and Thanksgiving

I have a thought to share this morning. It is on the Thankful thinking and Thanksgiving.  One book of the Bible I really love is the Psalms. I love it because I can identify with it. It is a picture of the relationship between humanness and divinity, insufficiency and all-suffifiency, fallibility and grace. It is a picture of us and God, us swallowed in as we are, in His accommodating grace. David, expresses the principle of the success of this relationship in faith (conviction), trust and absolute dependence.  Thanks flows from a mind that acknowledges provision from a posture of dependence. Paul said we have no bragging rights because there is nothing we have that we have not received (1 Co 4:7). Our ingratitude therefore comes from our ignorance of our plant-to-soil kind of relationship with divinity as set forth by the law of creation: no creature is independent of its creator, every creature draws sustenance from its creator, the creator is source and sustainer of...
